Video production during lockdown, is it possible?

A common problem a lot of businesses are facing at the moment, is how to advertise during a world-wide pandemic and endless lockdown restrictions. During these times, video advertising is more effective than ever while clients and customer bases remain largely at home and on their screens.

So it’s a no-brainer you need video, but can that be done as lockdowns remain in place? Here in Ontario, Canada we at The Kiln are pleased to say that the current stay-at-home order still permits video production while adhering to government precautions.

The Kiln, based in Ottawa, are fully able to produce your commercial, promo, feature, short, documentary, or any video concept you have in mind right now. We can also do it completely remotely, meaning you don’t have to be physically present during the various stages of the production process.

When we were based in Sydney, Australia The Sheet Society, a Melbourne-based company, was heavily restricted during state-wide lockdowns in the state of Victoria. The restrictions included nightly curfews and people were instructed to stay within 5km of their homes, effectively cutting them off from the rest of Australia.

But The Sheet Society were an online business, and had new products to showcase to their customers, and so needed commercial video work done despite the lockdown. Through zoom calls and slack chats, we were able to help them develop their concept, initiate pre-production and then execute it all in Sydney. They were with us every step of the way, signing off on things as we went along, executing the brief and sending the deliverables without them ever having to leave their homes.

Anyone who has been through the filmmaking process before knows just how many balls need to be juggled to get the concept off the ground. At The Kiln, we strive to make the video production process as simple and pain-free for you as possible, so that we can all enjoy the creative process as we help bring an idea to life. And this is how we made our remote production with the Sheet Society such a success.

Great review for The kiln Video Production team

They came to us with the product, the talent they wanted to use and the look and feel they wanted to achieve, then we took it from there. We developed a visual concept and storyline, we sourced multiple locations for approval, we assembled a crew of stylists, photographers, camera operators, set builders and make up artists, we had the product delivered to us and organised the looks, we directed the photography and camera team and we managed everything else from catering to the location’s homeowner. All the moving parts on the day were kept in check by our careful pre-planning, rundowns and schedules. The Sheet Society could simply sit back and relax from the the comfort of their living room, while we took care of it.

The result was a happy client and a great piece of creative work that helped The Sheet Society get it’s new product range out into the world. We were able to get the production done even in the most trying of situations. So if you know video production is what you need right now, and you thought maybe it wasn’t possible, contact us now to discuss how we can make it a reality, even during a lockdown.
